Preserve Your Natural Tooth
Root canal therapy saves the tooth so you can avoid extraction and keep your natural smile intact.
Severe tooth pain or lingering sensitivity often means the inner pulp of the tooth is infected. A root canal relieves the pain while saving your natural tooth — carried out with advanced technology and gentle, unhurried techniques so you stay comfortable throughout.

Root canal therapy saves the tooth so you can avoid extraction and keep your natural smile intact.
Removing the infected pulp settles the throbbing, aching pain many patients arrive with.
Cleaning and sealing the canals stops infection from spreading to surrounding tissues and bone.
We use Fotona Laser SWEEPS and electronic apex locators for more precise cleaning and better outcomes.
Modern techniques and gentle care can shorten treatment time and speed up your recovery.
Treating the source of infection protects your bite, neighbouring teeth and long-term oral health.
Many people are anxious about root canals — often based on stories from decades ago. With modern local anaesthesia and gentle techniques, a root canal today is typically no more uncomfortable than having a standard filling done. Most of our patients tell us it was far easier than they expected.
The area around the tooth is fully numbed before we begin, so you shouldn't feel any sharp pain during treatment.
We work at a calm, patient pace and check in with you throughout — you're always in control.
Advanced technology like Fotona Laser SWEEPS helps clean the canals more efficiently, often with less discomfort.
Every step is explained clearly and carried out gently, so you know exactly what's happening and why.
A careful exam and X-rays confirm the infection and show us the exact shape of your tooth's canals.
The area around the tooth is thoroughly numbed so you're comfortable before we begin.
The infected or inflamed pulp is gently removed from inside the tooth (a pulpectomy).
The canals are thoroughly cleaned, disinfected and shaped — often supported by laser and electronic apex locators for accuracy.
The cleaned canals are filled with biocompatible gutta-percha and sealed with dental cement to keep bacteria out.
A filling or crown is placed on top to restore the tooth's strength, shape and everyday function.
If any of the signs below sound familiar, it's worth having your tooth checked. Catching an infection early usually means simpler treatment and a better outcome.
Tooth pain rarely settles on its own. The sooner we can assess and treat the tooth, the more likely we are to save it — and the more comfortable your treatment will be.

Common signs include a severe or lingering toothache, prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold, tooth discolouration, swelling or tenderness in the gums nearby, or a persistent pimple-like bump on the gum. Only a proper exam and X-ray can confirm whether a root canal is the right treatment, so it's best to book in for an assessment.
Most root canals are completed in one or two visits, with each appointment usually taking between 60 and 90 minutes depending on the tooth. Larger back teeth with more canals can take a little longer. We'll give you a clear time estimate at your consultation.
It's best to wait until the local anaesthetic has fully worn off before eating so you don't accidentally bite your cheek or tongue. For the first day or two, stick to softer foods and chew on the opposite side of the treated tooth while it settles.
Do: keep the area clean with gentle brushing and flossing, take any recommended pain relief as directed, and eat softer foods for a couple of days. Don't: chew hard or sticky foods on the treated tooth until your final restoration is in place, and don't skip the follow-up appointment for a crown or filling if one has been recommended.
A tooth that's had a root canal is often more brittle than a healthy tooth, especially at the back where chewing forces are greater. A crown protects the tooth from cracking and restores its full strength and shape, helping it last for many years.
